Special announcement. June 10/2023 It is with deep regret that the Wild Rose Network announces the passing of our friend and colleague Patrick Nelson, VE6CPT on Sunday April 2 at Foothills hospital. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Pat was a close friend of 40 years, of both Mike VE6AMC and Dale VE6CPK. He was well known to those who both assisted us, and supported our endeavours over the years. Pat was an instrumental team member in the early days of the SARA (1986) Network, and in the building of the Wild Rose network of amateur repeaters and facilities. Pat became a ham in 1981 and met Mike and Dale shortly thereafter, when he assisted with the tower work on what became the original VE6TWO repeater in Calgary. Since then Pat was an integral member of the group, and provided a wealth of expertise that enabled a number of significant achievements. These included the original analog wide area linking system between Edmonton and Medicine Hat, the Iparn Satellite link ,as well as VE6ONE, Alberta’s first solar powered mountain top DTMF link controlled repeater. These, as well as the host of achievements accomplished by the Wild Rose Group. He had a helping hand in all of the repeaters you see listed on our site. Pat will be missed, and we send out our sincerest condolences to his family. If you wish to send any messages of sympathy to pass on to the family, please email us via the site and we will forward. Thank you; Mike VE6AMC
